Five Reasons Why Designers are Switching to Mac

Ummmm, Smashing Magazine has been so so so so so awful lately. Designers have always been using Macs.

These guys are a bunch of hacks. And this just goes back to why I think they post worthless content that’s just reiterating things people already know. The only thing that’s worse is their roundups about current web trends. Which really just spawn a bunch of new “trendy” looking websites. So all in all they just post a bunch of self fulfilling prophecies.

This article uses terrible arguments.

Look, I’m not going to sit here and bash on Macs.  But the fact of the matter is that Linux really owns the two OSs quite plainly and simply, even if it does take more knowledge.  I would argue that because more people use Windows, it actually has become as user-friendly as Mac claims to be.

i think once you really get into industries that require computers, though, you can’t say one or the other OS is better. i work at a printshop, and let me tell you, with the equipment we run and the efficiency we do it at, we wouldn’t be able to use macs. however, designers praise macs as the superior.

but that doesn’t do very much good when i’m trying to print a big banner that just says in big red text “FOR LEASE; CALL 884-8692”.

on the other hand, when i’m recording music, i record digital. and the programs i choose are primarily windows based, and don’t run on macs. and don’t tell me garage band works JUUUST as good. it works ALRITE. but if you are getting into serious things, you got to use serious programs.

anymore, i don’t debate on which os is better. i debate on which os has better programs.
